Special Metals Wiggin trace their roots back to Sir Henry Wiggin in the 1800's, who founded Henry Wiggin & Company and began making specialty alloys. During World War II, the Wiggin research team was responsible for the vital alloys needed to produce gas turbine engines.

Using air and vacuum melting, vacuum arc and electroslag remelting, powder metallurgy, forging, extrusion, hot and cold rolling and cold drawing, Special Metals Wiggin Limited makes a comprehensive range of nickel alloys in most standard wrought forms. Producing ingot, billet and bar, extruded sections, pipe and tube, flat products (plate, sheet, and foil) and wire.

We are looking for two enthusiastic, talented, ambitious and skilled individuals who thrive on a challenge to undertake a 12-month placement within our Organisation based at our Hereford Plant.  You will work within the Operations Department on projects to help with cost reduction, improved productivity and performance. 

The role holder will also be heavily involved in reinstating, monitoring and improving OEE on key machining assets in the Cold Draw or Forge Departments. 

Assignment Responsibilities

• Data collection, analysis and presentation
• Reviewing time-based data to identify waste during non-production periods
• Prepare data to support projects related to behavioural change and potential investment
• Use of Power BI reporting tools to provide live usage, cost & efficiency information tailored to departments for supervision and employee engagement through shop floor reporting. 

Candidate Requirements

• Must be enrolled in an accredited residential college
• Student must have successfully completed first year prior to co-op assignment
• Student must be pursuing a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in operations, engineering or similar.
• Must possess a Positive CAN DO ATTITUDE
• Must have a Strong sense of urgency
• Must be able to adopt the Right to Left Thinking philosophy– Begin with the end in mind – what do you want the end result to be?
