What does this team do?

Audit matters to everyone, even if you've never heard the word before. When a company shares its financial results, people need to know those numbers are accurate. That's where audit comes in. We check company financial reports independently, so the public, investors and businesses can trust what they're seeing. It's a job that protects people, and it genuinely makes a difference.

In IT Audit, we help organisations identify and manage technology risks that could impact financial reporting and business performance. As an IT Auditor, you will identify technology-related risks, evaluate the effectiveness of IT controls and cybersecurity measures, and assess the impact of emerging technologies, such as AI, cloud computing, and automation, on an organisation's control environment.

Working alongside financial audit teams and the companies we audits, you will provide practical insights that support high-quality audits and strengthen trust in technology-enabled processes.

You will gain exposure to a wide range of organisations, from large global businesses to smaller entities, developing both technical and professional skills. This role offers a unique opportunity to understand how technology supports business objectives. It will enable you to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and impactful way.

By helping ensure the integrity of financial reporting, you will contribute to building confidence and trust in organisations and the wider market.

As part of the IT Audit team, your responsibilities will include:

• Stakeholder Management: Working in teams and building relationships both within the IT specialist team as well as financial audit and beyond.
• Risk Assessment: Identifying and evaluating risks associated with company’s use of technology.
• Control Testing: Assessing IT controls design and perform testing of implementation and operating effectiveness to provide assurance on smooth operation of controls throughout the review period. This includes gathering and analysing evidence in line with audit methodology and standards.
• Communication: Build effective working relationships across IT audit team, financial audit team, and the companies we audit to support the delivery of high-quality audits.
• Reporting: Communicate findings clearly and concisely, contributing to audit documentation, reporting, and stakeholder discussions.
• Innovation: Contributing to the continuous improvement of our audit processes, enhancing efficiency and providing greater insights to the companies we audit.

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We value both in-person collaboration and the flexibility that allows for a healthy work-life balance. We operate a hybrid work model, combining office and remote work arrangements.

While client-facing roles may require on-site visits, your meetings will be a blend of virtual and in-person interactions. Your initial induction and final assessment will be conducted in person, providing valuable networking and relationship-building opportunities.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

You’ll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum 2:1 in any STEM degree discipline and have graduated by September 2027 for the Autumn 2027 intake.

How will I develop? 

Working as an IT Audit Specialist, you’ll have the opportunity to make an impact from day one.

• You’ll be managing business relationships and developing an ability to understand how businesses use technology to help them achieve their objectives and the risks/opportunities involved. You’ll also gain invaluable knowledge of how different organisations manage these risks.  
• You’ll get to work with some of the most talented professionals in this specialism. Alongside hands-on experience, you’ll have the opportunity to study towards qualifications, such as the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification offered by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) or complete a Master of Science (MSc) in Digital and Business Risk Management. Throughout this time, you’ll be given allocated study leave for learning.
• Studying for a qualification is a challenging but rewarding experience. It will include not only technical skills, but soft skills like strong communication, decision-making, resilience and problem-solving. 
• We will cover the cost of all mandated courses, permitted exam attempts and membership fees required for your qualification.  We will also provide a specified amount of paid study leave.
