Graduate - Corporate Finance - Mergers & Acquisitions

Finance, Accounting, Business.

What does this team do?

Corporate Finance helps organisations and shareholders take control of and unlock their potential, in terms of both finances and operations.  We bring together different areas of expertise: Debt, Capital and Treasury Advisory, M&A Advisory and Turnaround, Restructuring & Special Situations (Restructuring) – to tackle the challenges of today and build opportunity and resilience for tomorrow.

What surprised our people about Deloitte?
"I think the main misconception that a lot of people have with any Big Four accounting firms is that it's going to be very corporate and very top-heavy."

We help clients to build financial resilience, as well as leading on both sale and acquisition processes (when companies buy and sell businesses). Clients include niche start-ups all the way to some of the most recognised brands in the world, including private and public companies, private equity houses, and financial institutions.

Our holistic offering means we tailor teams and expertise, bringing diverse experience and knowledge from across Deloitte to build flexible solutions that deliver positive change.

What kind of work will I do?

When working in Corporate Finance, you’ll be advising companies through a range of different challenges. This might involve helping a company get a multi-million-pound loan for a new acquisition, finding an acquirer for your client’s business at an attractive price, helping a struggling company become more profitable or preventing a company’s insolvency by renegotiating a loan.

Your responsibilities might include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of information about a company or business venture to present to lenders or potential acquirers.
  • Preparation of financial models to explain the impacts of certain actions on a business’s financial statements.
  • Helping negotiate terms to achieve the best outcomes for your clients.
  • Discussions with senior management teams to understand more about their business challenges and how we can help.
  • Helping clients to buy businesses: helping them to grow, access new markets and assets, and to better source finance.
  • Helping clients to sell businesses: helping stakeholders realise value and achieve maximum returns and prioritise areas for growth of their wider businesses.
  • Involvement in a range of business development activities, mainly consisting of market research.

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.

All our work spaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

You’ll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum 2:1 in any STEM degree discipline and have graduated by September 2027 for the Autumn 2027 intake.

How will I develop?

As a Graduate within Corporate Finance and as part of the M&A rotational programme, you will complete the ACA via accelerated route.

This role is part of our three-year M&A rotation graduate scheme. You'll start in Corporate Finance (your “home offering area”) and gain valuable experience through two further rotations within different M&A offering areas. This structured approach allows you to build a comprehensive understanding of the M&A business as a whole, develop key skills, and network across the team. You'll return to your home offering area at the end of the programme.

Your development will be supported by your People Leader, project colleagues, mentor, and buddy. This tailored approach allows you to focus on developing your strengths, whether in technical expertise, communication, project management, or creative problem-solving, based on your project experiences.

Deadlines

We recommend getting your application in as soon as possible. Please note, some of our roles may close before the deadline if we experience high demand.

  • Assessment deadlines: Once you’ve applied to this role, you’ll receive an email from our recruitment team outlining next steps and the relevant deadlines for you to complete the following stages of our process. We operate a strict one application per year policy across our Early Careers opportunities. We recommend only submitting an application for a role that you feel is right for you.

Visa Sponsorship

We accept applications from candidates who are currently on student visas for this role. We cannot accept applications from candidates who have previously spent time on a Skilled Worker or Graduate visa. If successful to offer, you must stay on your student visa until our immigration team contacts you c.3 months before your start date.

What matters to you? Make it happen at Deloitte.
