Graduate - Actuarial - Banking Analytics & Financial Resource Management

Maths, Finance, Analytics, Economics, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science.

What does this team do?

In Actuarial we are problem solvers and strategic thinkers, who use mathematical skills to help measure the probability and risk of future events. Our work helps individuals to plan for the future, and it’s always challenging and interesting.

What surprised our people about Deloitte?
"I think the main misconception that a lot of people have with any Big Four accounting firms is that it's going to be very corporate and very top-heavy."

Our Banking Analytics & Financial Resource Management practice uses mathematical and statistical knowledge to support leading banking clients, helping them to understand and use data to solve business problems.   We are market-leading, using a range of advanced analytics and risk management skills to advise banking clients on the key challenges they face so they can make effective business decisions.

We foster an open and friendly working environment that naturally allows everyone to learn from the wide range of experts within the practice.

What kind of work will I do?

Using your strong problem solving and analytical skills to derive insights and spot patterns in data which enables us to help our clients make good business decisions.

  • Listening to our clients’ problems and trying to resolve these as part of a team, including brainstorming, executing and presenting solutions to our clients via reports and slide decks.
  • Optimising operations for our clients to drive efficiency.
  • Attracting new customers by creating new digital experiences using analytics, data visualisation, machine learning and AI.
  • Translating complex technical analysis into actionable insights for senior executives, both internally and externally.

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.

All our workspaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

You’ll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum 2:1 in a maths or finance related degree (this could include but not limited to: including Chemistry, Actuarial Sciences, Finance, Physics, Economics, Engineering and Computer Science) and have graduated by September 2027 for the Autumn 2027 intake.  An A-level (or equivalent) in Maths is encouraged but not essential.

We’re looking for applicants who:

  • Are open minded and enjoy solving complex problems where there isn’t necessarily a blueprint to follow.
  • Enthusiastic about Financial Services Management Consulting and making a difference for our clients.
  • Enjoy working with a variety of people.
  • Are strong communicators and excellent listeners.

In addition, programming skills, for example in Python, SAS, SQL, C, C++ or Java, and an interest in risk and analytics are desirable but not required.

How will I develop?

In September you will attend our Analyst Induction Programme (AIP) alongside your Technology & Transformation Analyst peer group to learn about our company, culture and how we work. The programme will be a mix of in-person and online learning that takes place over several weeks and includes engaging talks, group activities and immersive simulation challenges.

On a day-to-day basis, you will receive on-the-job training through your work with different actuarial colleagues and colleagues in other parts of the firm on varied client and internal projects. There are also formal training courses and e-learning to help you develop broader business skills.

As well as learning key consulting skills and gaining exposure to a wide variety of projects, you will gain expertise in planning, modelling and implementations. The initial extensive spectrum of work will allow you to take your career into your own hands and over time streamline your focus into the areas you enjoy the most.

A role in the Banking Analytics and Financial Resource Management team offers the opportunity to be part of a market leading team of data scientists that provides a range of advanced analytics, risk management and quantitative advisory services to our top tier banking clients, alongside consulting opportunities to engage closely and directly with clients, plus a strong internal support network and a friendly open culture.

If you are offered a role, you will be assigned a buddy who has been in your position as a graduate joining Deloitte as an Analyst. They will act as an informal point of contact, answering questions and offering insight and guidance before you join and throughout your journey at Deloitte.
