In Controls Advisory, we assist organisations in understanding risks associated with their end-to-end processes, including both automated and manual processes, and their IT landscape. We offer a comprehensive suite of services, including controls framework design, next generation controls operating model re-design, controls culture enhancement and controls automation, including the use of AI.

In addition, we support management to gain assurance on the operation of their control frameworks. You will collaborate with clients, business and finance controls teams, and technology risk specialists to define their control requirements and help them unlock their full potential. You will be focused on the IT/Digital Controls area of Controls Advisory.

What kind of work will I do?

This role will provide you with opportunities to work as part of multi-disciplinary teams to establish your knowledge of risk, controls and technology, so that you can implement tech controls for clients. This includes learning about key technologies such as AI and then applying this to drive improvements throughout the control lifecycle from assessing risks to implementing, monitoring and assessing controls. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Identify and assess clients' key IT risks, developing and implementing long-term strategies for mitigation and improvement
  • Design and embed IT controls to ensure adherence to relevant internal policies, legislation, and regulatory requirements
  • Leverage data and technology to address IT aspects of their critical challenges, including climate change, cyber-attacks, data privacy, and organisational transformation
  • Provide expert guidance and support to build and strengthen clients' IT governance and control frameworks, fostering innovation and confident change management
  • Deliver impactful change initiatives that enable organisations to effectively manage their IT risks
  • Work at the forefront of strategy and control requirements for internal, regulatory and extended enterprise requirements, focusing on cutting-edge technologies such as AI and cloud computing.

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working.

If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.

All our work spaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

You’ll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum 2:1 in any STEM degree discipline and have graduated by September 2027 for the Autumn 2027 intake.

Learning and development will also be delivered as part of a comprehensive training programme with dedicated sessions taking place at regular intervals, as well as independent training encouraged through our Learning portal.

The training may include (but is not limited to):

  • Controls Advisory competencies and knowledge (supplemented through project work) across a wide array of subjects, such as risk management, change transformation and assurance, and programme management
  • You will be required to undertake either the MSc in Digital and Business Risk Management or the ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification (ACA) to help develop your career and become an industry expert
  • Consulting business skills such as stakeholder management, effective communication, presentation, and business writing
