What does this team do?

In Deloitte’s growing Forensic and Financial Crime team, we use our skills to combat all components of money laundering and terrorist financing, including international sanctions, fraud, bribery and corruption. We work across multiple industry segments, including financial services, energy and resources and the public sector.

Our people talk about doing work they care about
For a career where you can constantly develop your skills, take a look at our careers.

This is a role for people who want to combine financial crime knowledge, consulting and technology. You will work closely with clients to transform their financial crime risk management functions, using technology, data and AI to improve how they detect risk, make decisions and respond to change. You will learn how to understand client challenges, explain complex technical and regulatory concepts in a simple way, and help build practical solutions that make a real-world impact.

We are looking for curious, energetic problem-solvers who enjoy working with data, learning new tools and turning complex ideas into clear, actionable insights. You do not need to arrive as an expert, but you should be excited by technology, confident learning quickly and ready to show how you have applied analysis, coding and structured thinking to solve real-world problems.

What kind of work will I do?

No two projects are the same. You will work on live client challenges, learn from experienced consultants and technologists, and build skills that sit across data, technology, financial crime and client delivery.

You will combine hands-on technology delivery, data analysis, client interaction and consulting skills. From early on, you will contribute to client conversations, turn analysis into clear messages, and learn how to build strong professional relationships. Your work could include:

  • Designing and improving technology solutions that help clients detect and prevent financial crime.
  • Problem solving and consulting - structuring ambiguous questions and complex concepts into something that can be clearly communicated to our clients.
  • Helping clients transform their financial crime risk management functions by applying technology, data and AI across people, process and controls.
  • Using Python, SQL, AI, machine learning or BI tools to explore data, identify patterns and generate insights clients can use.
  • Building data pipelines, dashboards, reports or analytical outputs that help clients monitor risk and make better decisions.
  • Turning complex regulatory, operational or technology challenges into clear recommendations and delivery plans that clients can act on.
  • Creating client-ready outputs such as analysis summaries, process maps, technical documentation, presentations and implementation plans, then presenting findings clearly and confidently.

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.

All our workspaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

You'll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum 2:1 in a STEM-related degree, ideally in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field, and have graduated by September 2027 for the Autumn 2027 intake.

How will I develop?

You will learn fast, supported by a dynamic team of consultants, technologists and financial crime specialists who share knowledge, challenge each other and work together to solve difficult problems. Through client work, formal training and coaching from experienced colleagues, you will build skills in areas such as:

  • Consulting: Structured problem solving, business analysis, stakeholder management, client relationship building, presentation skills, and clear written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Applied technology and analytics skills: Including data analytics and visualisation, data engineering, Python, SQL, AI and Generative AI, machine learning, technology and data architecture, and technology project management.
  • Financial crime: Know Your Customer ("KYC"), customer due diligence ("CDD"), transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and other financial crime risk mitigation processes
  • Professional development: you will also complete an external professional qualification with the International Compliance Association related to Anti-Money Laundering.
  • Bring your curiosity. Build your skills. Help shape the future of financial crime technology. If you want to learn quickly, solve complex problems, work with clients and use technology to make a real-world impact, this is a place to build your career. With no two projects the same, your development journey will be shaped by the skills, interests and ambitions you bring.
