Summer Vacation Scheme - Forensic Technology

Computer Science, IT, Data, AI, Software, Cyber.

What does this team do?

The Forensic Technology team is responsible for identifying and gathering digital evidence around our client’s biggest and most complex legal, regulatory and economic crime challenges. We help them to build solutions and conduct analysis so they can improve their overall operations and reduce risk to the business.

What surprised our people about Deloitte?
"I think the main misconception that a lot of people have with any Big Four accounting firms is that it's going to be very corporate and very top-heavy."

Our services help a varied client base, from small companies to large corporates with a global presence. We love working with data and we want to help our clients get the most from theirs, whether they are investigating potential fraud or supporting complex regulatory and legal matters. We work on highly sensitive and varied projects using new technology, combining investigative skills with technical expertise.

What kind of work will I do?

This six-week placement puts you at the heart of our business, surrounded by experts who can help you flourish. You’ll do real work from day one, using what you’ve learnt at university to help solve complex problems.

Some of your tasks might include:

  • Supporting lawyers and investigators in identifying digital evidence relevant to the investigation, dispute or litigation
  • Visiting client offices to collect data from sources such as servers, laptops, mobile devices or social media, working covertly if needed
  • Using advanced data mining, generative AI and computer forensics tools to gain a deep understanding of digital evidence and uncover corporate misconduct
  • Researching and contributing to the development of cutting-edge solutions that address real-world challenges. This includes working with and implementing new techniques and technologies to create valuable management information (MI) for our clients
  • Learning and using advanced data science techniques including coding languages such as SQL and Python, to analyse data.

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events.

All our workspaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team.

How will I develop?

When you join the programme, you’ll become part of a supportive community of colleagues who, like you, are at the start of their careers. Your journey will begin with a comprehensive induction, designed to equip you with the skills and confidence you need to work with our clients. Throughout the programme, you’ll continue to develop through hands-on experience with your project team, alongside ongoing mentoring and support from your dedicated buddy.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

You must be in the penultimate year of your course, or going onto a Master's, and you need to be on track to achieve a predicted degree classification of 2:1 or above in any STEM discipline.

If you’re fascinated by business and can’t wait to get stuck into complex projects that make a difference, you’ll fit right in.

Visa Sponsorship

Due to the Security Clearance requirement for this role, please note that we’re unable to progress applications from candidates on a Student Visa or those who do not hold the unrestricted right to work in the UK.

We operate a strict one application per year policy across our Early Careers opportunities. We recommend only submitting an application for a role that you feel is right for you.

We’re a collaborative, inclusive firm and we want to help you to use your unique talents and perspectives in the workplace. From diversity networks to wellbeing and much more, we aim to support and reward you in the best way possible.
