Summer Vacation Scheme - Technology Strategy Consulting - Technology Strategy & Transformation

IT, Software, Computer Science, Data, Analytics, AI.

What does this team do?

In Technology Strategy and Transformation (TST), we focus on enabling our clients to be the best that they can be. We work with their most senior leaders and top-level executives to help them digitise and modernise their organisations from the ground up. We lead the transformation of the organisation itself with innovative and core technologies, helping organisations move away from IT, the department of computers, to technology as a business partner and enabler.

What matters to us

Our teams combine strategic thinking, advisory services, and cutting-edge technology capabilities to create a digital core that has the capability to drive new processes, improved analytics, and improved performance across the business.

We proudly partner with some of the world’s largest and most successful organisations, helping COOs, CFOs, CIOs, and their teams achieve their goals, whether that is improving financial performance, accelerating speed to market, and delivering continuous innovation.

In an era of AI-driven disruption, technology strategy is more important than ever. Clients need trusted advisers who can help them navigate complexity and turn emerging technologies into meaningful, sustainable business value.

Given our focus on the ‘backbone’ of our clients’ organisations, we aim to create better experiences for employees through technology so both the individual and organisation can thrive, all whilst making a positive impact on society.

We also focus on increasing our clients’ impacts on wider society, transforming their enterprises to make advances in sustainability and diversity and inclusion. We help them to transform how their businesses run and the technologies they use in ways that drive net zero and incorporate inclusive ways of working.

What kind of work will I do?

As a Summer Vacation Scheme intern in Technology Strategy and Transformation, you will work on large-scale technology transformations, working across the full lifecycle from the design through to implementation. As part of your role, you will be:

  • Working with individuals from our clients’ business and IT teams to understand what our clients’ problems and needs are, transforming those into technical requirements
  • Creating documentation crucial to the delivery and execution of the programme, alongside materials presented back to clients
  • Learning how to engage with clients to solve their most complex problems and the approaches Deloitte takes to understand their needs
  • Creating documents crucial to the delivery and execution of the programme, alongside materials presented back to clients
  • Using firm-approved AI tools responsibly to support client delivery
  • Help assess technology investments, identifying opportunities to improve value, agility, efficiency and user experience.
  • Discovering how technologies underpin everything an organisation does, and which technologies work best for each part of a business

Throughout your time at Deloitte, you will be working with teams across TST and wider Technology and Transformation practice, understanding how we bring our range of technical expertise and combine them in the way that best serves our clients.

You will have opportunities to work with experts and teams across numerous fields, getting insight into how we work with the world’s largest and most important organisations.

Where will I work?

At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you’re in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.

All our workspaces are accessible, however, if you require further flexibility due to a health condition or caring responsibilities, please discuss this with our team.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?

This programme is for university students who are doing well academically and want to test their skills in the real world. You must be in the penultimate year of your course, or going onto a Master's, and you need to be on track to achieve a predicted degree classification of 2:1 or above in any STEM discipline.

How will I develop?

Professionally, an internship within the TST programme will help you learn:

  • What technologies organisations currently use and how they can transform those to better achieve their strategic objectives
  • How to interpret business strategic and objectives and transform those into requirements and solutions
  • What large-scale technology transformations look like
  • How to build rapport with clients and ensure they have confidence in your capability

You will have unrivalled access to the largest and most important organisations in the world, as well as world class experts within Deloitte, all of which allow you to truly build a solid foundation for any career you seek to pursue.
