Where you'll be working

SP Energy Networks keeps the electricity flowing to homes and businesses throughout Central and Southern Scotland, North Wales, Merseyside, Cheshire, and North Shropshire. The energy landscape is changing rapidly as the way our customers and communities generate, consume, and interact with energy evolves. Our role is to decarbonise our network through technology and innovation and to facilitate the UK's journey to Net Zero through electrification.

Your programme will be based within our Cyber or SPT Community Engagement & Sustainability business area where you'll engage with communities, regulators, and industry partners.

As part of a skilled team, you'll contribute to major infrastructure projects that are reshaping the UK's energy landscape. From community funding programmes to strategic communications, you'll gain hands-on experience in how we engage with the people and organisations that matter most to our mission.

What you'll be doing

As a Stakeholder Engagement Graduate, you will have a range of duties and tasks that will allow you to develop your skills and gain valuable experience across the industry. This will include:

• Stakeholder Mapping – Identify key players and shape engagement strategies
• Community Engagement – Plan and run workshops, info sessions, and feedback events
• Creative Communications – Craft newsletters, social posts, and digital content
• Impact Assessments – Evaluate community-funded projects and their outcomes
• Event Support – Represent SP Energy Networks at meetings and forums
• Project Reporting – Track engagement and integrate feedback into decisions
• Help build relationships with regulators, local authorities, and industry partners
• Contribute to our sustainability and Net Zero communications initiatives

What you'll bring

We're looking for graduates who are passionate about people and effective communication. You'll need:

• An Honours Degree at a minimum of 2:2 (or equivalent) in Communications, Public Affairs, Media, or a related discipline
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences
• A genuine interest in sustainability, clean energy, and community engagement
• The ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners
• Curiosity and a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving
• Organisational skills and attention to detail when managing multiple activities
• Confidence in representing the organisation at events and meetings
• A focus on building respectful relationships with diverse communities
