Where you'll be working

SP Energy Networks keeps the electricity flowing to homes and businesses throughout Central and Southern Scotland, North Wales, Merseyside, Cheshire, and North Shropshire. The energy landscape is changing rapidly as the way our customers and communities generate, consume, and interact with energy evolves. Our role is to decarbonise our network through technology and innovation and to facilitate the UK's journey to Net Zero through electrification.  

You programme will be based in SP Distribution, SP Manweb, Cyber, Innovation or Smart Grid Operations. You will work across different operational sites and teams, giving you hands-on experience in in a wide range of projects including replacement of critical infrastructure, connecting new renewable generation and reinforcing the electricity network to ensure it is ready for net zero.  

Throughout your journey, you’ll be supported every step of the way, gaining the practical experience and professional development needed to thrive in the energy sector.  

What you'll be doing

As a Project Management Graduate, you will have a range of duties and tasks that will allow you to develop your skills and gain valuable experience in various aspects of Project Management. 

You'll contribute to projects that are enhancing our electricity network, you can expect to: 

• Support project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation across multiple projects   
• Building your technical and commercial knowledge 
• Collaborate with engineers, commercial teams, suppliers, and local communities to deliver projects 
• Exploring innovative solutions that place us at the centre to achieving our Net Zero goals 

What you'll bring

We're looking for capable, motivated graduates who are ready to develop their skills in a fast-paced, impactful environment. You'll need:  

• Honours Degree at a minimum of 2:2 (or equivalent) in Project Management, Civil, Business & Project Management, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.   
• A full UK driving licence must be in place by September 2027.  
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with different teams 
• An organized approach to managing tasks, timelines, and documentation 
• A genuine interest in the energy sector and dedication to sustainability
