Where you'll be working

SP Energy Networks keeps the electricity flowing to homes and businesses throughout Central and Southern Scotland, North Wales, Merseyside, Cheshire, and North Shropshire. The energy landscape is changing rapidly as the way our customers and communities generate, consume, and interact with energy evolves. Our role is to decarbonise our network through technology and innovation and to facilitate the UK's journey to Net Zero through electrification.

What you'll be doing

As a Health and Safety Graduate, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of SP Transmission health and safety strategies across major development and construction projects. Working alongside experienced health and safety professionals, you will gain exposure to a wide range of operational activities while contributing to our commitment to ensuring everyone returns home safe every day. 

You will: 

• Support the implementation, monitoring, and continual improvement of health and safety policies, procedures, and initiatives across development and construction projects. 
• Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry regulations, and company standards, helping to identify opportunities for continual improvement. 
• Work collaboratively with operational and project teams to promote a positive health and safety culture and encourage the adoption of best practices. 
• Participate in inspections, audits, and site visits to help monitor performance and support the achievement of high health and safety standards. 
• Assist with incident and near miss investigations, contributing to root cause analysis and the development of effective corrective and preventive actions. 
• Support the collection, analysis, and reporting of health and safety performance data to identify trends and drive improvement initiatives. 
• Contribute to health and safety campaigns, training, and awareness activities across the business. 
• Develop your knowledge and understanding of health and safety management within a complex and evolving infrastructure environment. 

What you'll bring

We're looking for graduates who are detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and genuinely interested in safety, health, and sustainability. You'll need: 

• Honours Degree at a minimum of 2:2 (or equivalent) in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a similar discipline 
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively with teams across the business 
• The ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain attention to detail 
• A genuine interest in safety, health, and sustainability, with a focus on making a positive impact
