Are you looking to kickstart your career at a company where you can truly make an impact? Whether we’re delivering power to millions, trading in new markets around the globe, or driving the rapid growth of renewable energy, RWE is at the forefront of the industry. But we wouldn’t be there without world-class IT.

About the role

The IT Developer Graduate Programme is designed for graduates who want to build a career in software engineering and application development, placing you at the heart of our commercial business.

Top tips for new graduates
We asked senior leaders to share their top tips for new graduates joining RWE.

Through a series of hands-on technical rotations, you’ll work closely with analysts and business support teams to deliver solutions for our energy trading and commercial operations teams, while developing expertise in programming, cloud-native technologies and DevOps practices.

Along the way, you’ll broaden your technical stack and business knowledge, gain experience across a range of programming languages and working environments, and build an understanding of different teams and cultures, providing a strong foundation for your permanent role and long-term career development.

You’ll learn about our global business from the inside – working on meaningful projects in areas including:

  • Application development.
  • Embedded IT for our commercial business such as trading of energy commodities, freight and logistics, commercial asset optimisation or sales and origination.
  • Enterprise Integration focus on the transport layer within RWEST’s application landscape and works closely together with other IT and business teams to optimise the systems.
  • Market Data Solutions are the fuel for decision-making, automated trading, and fundamental analysis within the Energy Trading industry.
  • Central Services are positioned in middle layer (Integration) applications connecting to various other departments like BackOffice, Risk and Front Office etc. involving incident management, automated standard service requests, working with concepts of DevOps and
  • Squad model and  migration of application to cloud based infrastructure.

Throughout the programme, you will have opportunities to use these tools responsibly to enhance productivity, support decision-making, foster innovation and improve ways of working, always in line with RWE policies and responsible use principles.

Whichever team you join, you’ll be welcomed as an equal. Your perspective will be valued. You’ll be trusted to deliver the work you’re given. And with each new rotation, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge you need to become an industry expert.

Job requirements and experience

Are you passionate about IT, digital technologies, and innovative solutions? Committed to building a career in the energy industry? Keen to learn, grow and take ownership and accountability?
