As a Project Benefits Analyst working within our Customer Community and Experience team, you will report in to the Portfolio Manager and will provide the critical link between the benefits delivered by change initiatives within the Customer Community and Experience Directorate, with our business plans, financial forecasts and price review submission.
You will provide critical support to the development of business cases, evaluating assumptions and sourcing relevant data. They will ensure benefits are realised by working closely between change, business operations, contracts & service management and finance team members.
As a newly created role, your responsibilities will evolve as the unit forms therefore you will be adaptable and open to change as initiatives vary significantly between technology led workflows, enhanced digital analytics, website re-platform and new on-line digital journeys, to schools education programmes, a community engagement programme and a 20 year water efficiency programme.
This is a hybrid role with two days office base (In Durrington) and the remaining to be remote working. Your core responsibilities are:
Working with relevant stakeholders on each initiative to understand the nature of the business case and the financial and non-financial benefits to be delivered, providing analytical support as needed to define and track benefits.
Ensure clear line of sight between initiatives, activities and benefits providing feedback and guidance on individual projects and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure benefits are optimised across the portfolio.
Work with the change, data and finance teams respectively to develop the tools and process for tracking benefits and leading indicators
Maintain an up-to-date log of all benefits under management through benefits realisation stages from identify through to realise including threats to realisation, associated costs and core assumptions that support them.
Understand and track relevant leading indicators in support of benefits forecasting ahead of realisation.
Complete regular and ad-hoc benefits reporting including provision of insight and recommendations.
Apply benefits management framework and model benefits led approach across all initiative types.
Continue to structure the role as the new team forms and develops, adapting new ways of working in close liaison with the change team.
You will be confident in delivering complex data to a variety of audiences with the ability to demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the relationship between project benefits and business financial management including budgeting, forecasting and realisation.
Strong numerical and analytical skills are essential in this role with significant experience in using complex spreadsheets in your role as an analyst. You will be able to create and amend ways of working and processes related to benefits and use own initiative to deliver outstanding results.
With the desire for continuous improvement, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and working under pressure in managing demands and handling challenging situations.
Skills & Competencies
Demonstrable ability to develop leading or signpost KPIs to support benefits forecast reliability.
Exposure to business case preparation and project or continuous improvement derived benefits realisation including appreciation of agile delivery.
Proven ability to understand, interpret and implement financial data.
Ability to successfully self-manage, prioritise and organise workload ensuring deadlines are achieved.
Technical Knowledge & Qualifications
Experience in analysing, tracking and reporting financial and non-financial benefits
Experience within waterfall, agile and continuous improvement led change
Experience in PMO practices at any level
Financial management and accounting practices
Business information analysis Essential

Degree level qualification or equivalent
