See how Sisk's journey has unfolded...

  • 1859

    John Sisk establishes his building business in 1859, the same year he married Kate Burke.

  • 1882

    The first major public building is completed by John Sisk at Parish Church, Castleisland, Co. Kerry.

  • 1900

    John Valentine Sisk starts his own building business but rejoins his father in 1907, hence the company name John Sisk & Son. On his father's death, John Valentine Sisk becomes the sole owner.

  • 1931

    John Gerard Sisk joins the company after receiving a degree in Civil Engineering from University College, Cork.

  • 1941

    John Sisk & Son build the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Dublin, first government office building of the Free State.

  • 1956

    Sisk setup Joint Venture company with the Dutch company Hollandsche Beton Maatschappij to build Wexford Bridge. The new company is known as Ascon and remains a joint venture for 33 years.

  • 1965

    Sisk workers stand on scaffolding at the Liberty Hall site overlooking O'Connell Bridge, Dublin.

  • 1978

    The iconic Central Bank on Dame Street, Dublin is completed by Sisk.

  • 1991

    In the UK, Sisk is contracted to build the first National Lottery-funded project, The American Air Museum, in Duxford.

  • 1994

    Sisk meets with Johnson & Johnson for the first time and the first project we completed for them was the Vistakon contact lens plant in Limerick.

  • 2006

    The reconfiguration of Wembley Arena, London is completed by Sisk.

  • 2012

    Four projects for the London Olympics, including the award-winning shooting venues, are completed by Sisk. These are later transported and rebuilt by Sisk for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

  • 2015

    Tunnel works on Crossrail in London is completed by Dragados Sisk Joint Venture (DSJV). 

  • 2019

    John Sisk & Son celebrates 160 years in business.

  • 2022

    The restoration of Avondale House and Forest Park in Co. Wicklow is completed by Sisk.

  • 2024

    We move to our new home, a state of-the-art retrofit building in Citywest Campus, Dublin.
