Help keep critical facilities safe, reliable and available. You’ll learn how the building systems that support AWE’s important facilities are maintained, improved and assured, while developing the skills needed for a career in asset engineering.
This is an onsite apprenticeship. Due to the nature and security of our work, you should expect to work onsite during your apprenticeship and in your role after you complete it. Being onsite means you’ll learn directly from experienced specialists, access hands-on support and build connections across engineering, maintenance and facility teams.
You’ll build technical knowledge, workplace confidence and practical engineering experience while working towards a degree-level apprenticeship. Following successful completion, you’ll continue your training as an Asset Engineer, with longer-term pathways into building services, facilities and infrastructure engineering, reliability engineering or senior engineering roles.
A 9-day working fortnight, with every other Friday off. This is an onsite apprenticeship based at AWE Aldermaston and/or Burghfield.
You’ll need one of the listed qualification routes, including A Levels, T Level or BTEC options in relevant engineering, construction or STEM subjects. Applicants must be British Nationals and aged 18 or over by 31 August 2027.
You must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role and work in designated areas.
