General Engineering

"My highlights of the scheme are the regular interaction with graduates in similar roles in other local companies and the flexibility and openness offered by the coordinators"

I went to Warwick University in the West Midlands where I did a 4 year integrated Masters course. The first two years were General Engineering with modules from all disciplines. I then specialised in Systems Engineering which looks at Mathematical Modelling and Simulation also choosing some Business and Sustainability modules.

Before university I spent a year out at the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) gaining useful transferable skills. I also spent a University half-term break at GE Power Systems which gave me an insight to what it’s like to work for a big corporation. The Cheshire Energy Hub appealed because of the breadth of opportunity it offers across the industry and in a great part of the country. My highlights of the scheme are the regular interaction with graduates in similar roles in other local companies and the flexibility and openness offered by the coordinators allowing us to have a say in how the programme is tailored around each of our individual development needs and desires.
