A good internship is never hands off.
Share your passion for getting hands-on with us.
We believe in creating an environment where our interns really can learn by doing during their time with us and where they are given their own areas of responsibilities from the start. That’s why our experts treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table – and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do. Plant Oxford is the birthplace and heart of MINI production. Manufactured to individual customer specifications, hundreds of MINIs leave the plant’s assembly lines each day, off to meet new owners in more than 110 countries around the world. Since production of the new MINI started in 2001, almost 3 million cars have been made at Plant Oxford.
Three UK plants have had a part to play in MINI production – Plant Hams Hall makes engines, Plant Swindon produces body pressings and sub-assemblies for MINI, and all this comes together at Plant Oxford with body shell production, paint and final assembly.
To ensure that we are continually developing our workforce, we are looking for talented and motivated people who will inspire and shape our future business. Each year we offer a number of internship opportunities and are keen to hear from you if you are currently studying an undergraduate degree and are on track for a 2:1 or 1st class final result.
We are currently recruiting an intern to join our Assembly Planning department at the MINI Plant in Oxford. If you have an inquisitive mind, a passion for processes and production, a thirst for knowledge about car assembly and if you would like the opportunity to work in a highly complex production facility, then this could be the internship for you.
The available opportunities will cover all aspects of assembly planning and special tool planning as well as assembly structure and equipment planning at MINI Plant Oxford. You will be part of the team that works on new vehicle launches, supervises the vehicle series production and its optimization, as well as running changes.
The Assembly Planning team sets-up the relevant processes, plan the necessary tooling and creates the required process documentation. Furthermore, the teams’ work includes the planning, purchasing and installation management of conveyors and automation technology.
You will be working alongside our planners and assist them with the preparation, coordination and implementation of projects as well as support shutdown operations. In addition, you will be responsible for the analysis and evaluation of important production and business data. In addition to these challenging tasks, other regular day-to-day activities will complete your exciting experience here at the BMW Group.
We offer a competitive salary of £17,500 per annum and a range of benefits including a pension scheme, generous holiday allowance and a subsidised on-site restaurant. As an intern you will also have the opportunity to take part in the testing of new vehicles through one of our car schemes. Throughout your internship you will be supported by our experts in your chosen field, as well as being surrounded by many fellow interns.
