Share your passion for getting hands-on with us.

We believe in creating an environment where our interns really can learn by doing during their time with us and where they are given their own areas of responsibilities from the start. That’s why our experts treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table – and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do.

The Hams Hall plant, located just outside Birmingham, in the UK, produces the latest generation of three and four cylinder petrol engines. Production also includes the machining of key engine components. Producing seven days a week, a finished engine leaves the production line every minute, and more than 1.4 million components are machined at the plant each year.

To ensure that we are continually developing our workforce, we are looking for talented and motivated people who will inspire and shape our future business. Each year we offer a number of internship opportunities and are keen to hear from you if you are currently studying an undergraduate degree and are on track for a 2:1 or 1st class final result.

Engine Assembly

The department includes two Engine Assembly Lines:

  • High Volume Assembly Line operates at 70 units per hour with a volume circa 400k per annum. This is a very automated facility with the latest technology.
  • Low Volume high flexible Assembly Line operates at up to 15 units per hour and produces the high powered 3-cylinder for the i8. Volume per annum circa 20k in 2019. This is a more manual process, and gives us the opportunity to trial new innovative technology.

They provide Engines across the BMW Network. (Oxford, NEDCar, Regensburg, Leipzig, Spartanburg, Dingolfing) and products include MINI, BMW i8, X2, 1 Series to name a few.
