Each year we offer a number of internship opportunities and are keen to hear from you if you are currently studying an undergraduate degree and are looking to complete a 6 or 12 month placement.

Key Accountabilities

  • Preparing bodies for launch into paint shop.
  • Monitor any fault or damage and each necessary rework. 
  • Preparing car bodies / parts for bespoke items in adding several fittings to the bodyshell. 
  • Retrofitting of missing attachment parts.
  • Setting up and tracking of quality issues. 
  • Supporting dry-build events.
  • Manufacturing support of engineering departments and project teams.
  • Regular quality reporting (i.e. rework brochure, dimensional result ...)
  • Flexibility to help out in other areas when required.
  • Develop new process to help production. 
  • Train other associates. 
  • Develop and implement process improvements within work areas.
  • Managing special attempts like trials. 
  • New model concept work / feasibility checks. 
  • Interface role with working contacts to platform teams, engineering areas and central departments.
  • Intensive interaction with process planning, maintenance and central quality functions.
  • Be member of SE- and module work.
  • Have contact with suppliers.
  • Initiating CIP activities and leading improvement activities.


We offer a competitive salary of £17,500 per annum and a range of benefits including a pension scheme, generous holiday allowance and a subsidised on-site restaurant. As well as being surrounded by many fellow interns throughout your internship you will be supported by our experts in your chosen field.

Application Process

The application process is as follows:

  • Stage 1: Online application form*
  • Stage 2: Two online ability tests (To be completed within 5 days of receipt).
  • Stage 3: Telephone interview with the recruitment team. 
  • Stage 4: Face to face interview with the hiring manager.
    *If you do not complete the free text questions your application will not be progressed.

Please note that our undergraduate placement opportunities are only open to students who will be returning to their final year of study following their placement with us.

Qualifications and experience

• Have detailed knowledge and experience in car manufacturing and engineering.
• Be able to show flexibility to support projects in various plants.
• Experience of structured problem solving techniques e.g. DMAIC.
• Basic knowledge of BMW Group.
• Experience of leadership skills in cross-functional teams.
• Have ability to escalate topics to an appropriate project members or circles.
• Degree in mechanical engineering or comparable qualification i.e. technician / production manager with supplementary.
• Knowledge of quality methods and standards.
• R-RMC product knowledge.
• CAD experience (CATIA, PRISMA).
• Excellent analysis and communication skills.
• Good IT/Computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc).
• Show ability to work in cross-functional and multi-cultural teams.
• Excellent verbal communication skills, presentation and report writing.
