Leather Manufacturing

Our leather manufacturing team are looking for a placement student to join them in July 2019 for 6 Months.

During your placement you will support the Leathershop Planning department who specialise in the Process and Project Planning of the Rolls-Royce Interior Trim Leather Parts.

Key Accountabilities 

Series Planning

  • Identification, procurement and installation of tools and equipment.
  • Optimisation of the Leathershop assembly sequence.
  • Creation of work instructions and all relevant documentation.
  • Understanding of the Health & Safety, environmental and legal implications that affect a Manufacturing Plant.

Production Steering

  • Industrial Engineering & Process Improvement Practices.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles and knowledge of the company’s own VPS / CIP principles.
  • Manufacturing feasibility and realisation of design and engineering requirements within the concept development process.

Project Planning

  • Working in project teams on set deliverables.
  • Project Manage the introduction of new materials and processes.
  • Support the planning and implementing the facilities, tooling and instructions for new models.
  • Support synchronising new models into existing manufacturing structures.


We offer a competitive salary of £17,500 per annum and a range of benefits including a pension scheme, generous holiday allowance and a subsidised on-site restaurant. As well as being surrounded by many fellow interns throughout your internship you will be supported by our experts in your chosen field.

  • Stage 3: Telephone interview with the recruitment team. 
  • Stage 4: Face to face interview with the hiring manager.

Please note that our undergraduate placement opportunities are only open to students who will be returning to their final year of study following their placement with us.

Qualifications and experience

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
  • Studying engineering, automotive engineering, business administration & engineering or similar.
  • Experienced MS Office knowledge.
  • Fluent in English and German.
  • Excellent team working and communication skills.
  • A proactive attitude.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team.
