About Cento Engineering Group

Cento is a specialist engineering team working with Façade Access Equipment and working at height solutions. The main products that we install are Manntech Building Maintenance Units (BMUs).

We are a family-run business established in 1995 delivering unparalleled service to the UK construction and facilities management industries for over 20 years.

Since 1995 Cento Engineering has undertaken a wide range of construction projects in the UK and Ireland; delivering complete engineered solutions with expertise in project management, design, fabrication, delivery, installation, and commissioning of façade access solutions.

About the role:

We are recruiting for an industrial placement student to join our engineering team.  Although we are based in Chelmsford, 95% of our installations are high-end developments in central London. You will be directly involved with changing the London skyline, delivering landmark projects and changing London’s landscape. We think that's pretty exciting!

Your responsibilities:

You will be involved in a wide range of activities on the placement, these will include but are not exclusive to:

  • Producing CAD drawings using AutoCAD and Solidworks.
  • Attending design & project co-ordination meetings with clients, consultants and main contractors.
  • Managing the project budgets and arranging the procurement of component parts.
  • Managing and co-ordinating subcontractors.
  • Document control and management, including the production of operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Compiling health and safety packs for installations including the development of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Attending construction sites and live buildings to install Building Maintenance Units, carrying out quality audits and site surveys.
  • Monitoring the progress of the project and update all key stakeholders where required.
  • Managing a team of onsite engineers throughout the delivery of the project.

About you:

  • Working towards a degree in a Mechanical/Electrical Engineering related subject.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills.
  • Logical thinking with the ability to creatively problem-solve.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and negotiation skills.
  • Able to work independently.

We are looking for someone that isn’t shy to get stuck in, an all-rounder. You should be interested in design but have confidence when going to client meetings. You’ll also be going to construction sites and getting “hands on” with the equipment.

Company Benefits

  • Competitive Salary.
  • 23 days' holiday plus bank holidays.
  • 5% Contributory Pension Scheme.
  • Life Protection/Critical Illness Cover.
  • Bi-Annual health screenings.
  • All necessary training and career development.
  • Opportunity to work within a small close-knit team and attend regular social events!
