Can I use AI?
At FTI Consulting, we value authenticity and want to see your unique skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity in action. To ensure a fair and accurate assessment, we ask that you do not use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) or other automated software to respond to questions or complete tasks during your application/interview/recruitment process.
Our goal is to understand your personal strengths and how you think - not how an AI responds. Using such tools may misrepresent your capabilities and could impact your candidacy. If we detect or suspect the use of AI during the interview, we may disqualify candidates from the hiring process.
You're not alone in the application process - everyone at FTI Consulting today has been where you are now! Whether applying for an internship, an early identification program, or an entry-level position, your journey begins with submitting an application. Follow our tips to present yourself as a top candidate ready to take on the challenges at FTI Consulting.
As you prepare to submit your application, we encourage you to explore our various career areas and practice teams by reviewing the job descriptions. This exploration will help you identify which aligns best with your educational background, skills, experience, and career interests. Our team is excited to learn more about you and how you can contribute to FTI Consulting.
What Is the Interview Process?
The interview and selection process for students and graduates may vary depending on the country, region, or hiring team. If you are selected to proceed after submitting your application, one of our recruiters will contact you to guide you through the next steps. Curious about what the interview process might involve? How Do I Prepare for My Interview?
Tips on how to ace your interview and make a great first impression to land your dream career.
Online Assessments
- Warm Up Your Skills: Before taking a numerical reasoning test, practice some mental math or writing dependent upon major or role.
- Keep Track of Time: Be mindful of the time allotted for each section. If you find yourself stuck on a question, move on and return to it if time allows. Prioritising easier questions first can help you maximise your score.
- Practice Makes Perfect: Familiarise yourself with the types of questions you might encounter. There are many online resources where you can take practice tests to hone your skills.
Interviews
- Review Your Resume: Go through your resume before the interview to ensure you can confidently discuss your skills, experiences, and achievements. Be prepared to elaborate on any point you’ve included.
- Know FTI Consulting: Research our company’s mission, values, and recent projects. Understand why you want to work here and be able to articulate this clearly during the interview.
- Prepare Your Examples: Reflect on key skills that are relevant to the role you’re applying for. Think of specific examples from your past experiences that demonstrate these skills and how they can contribute to your effectiveness as a consultant.
- Take a Moment to Think: Don’t feel pressured to answer immediately. It’s okay to take a moment to gather your thoughts before responding to questions. Thoughtful answers are often better than quick ones.
- Show Your Thinking Process: During problem-solving questions, articulate your thought process. We’re interested in understanding how you approach challenges and make decisions.
- Be Authentic: Let your true self shine through. Authenticity helps us see an applicant's personality and how an applicant could fit within our team.
Group Exercise
- Embrace Collaboration: The group exercise is designed to assess an applicant's ability to work effectively with others. Focus on contributing positively and supporting teammates.
- Share Unique Thoughts: Use the time at the start to process the information and form opinions. Don’t be afraid to express ideas and ask for feedback from team members.
- Communicate Clearly and Listen: Good communication is key. Make sure to articulate points clearly and listen actively to the contributions of others. Collaboration involves both speaking up and valuing others' input.
