Heathrow is like a small city – dynamic, diverse, forward thinking – right at the heart of the nation’s global connections and offering a world of opportunities. We’re investing billions in innovative technology, new terminals and first-class training & development for our people.
That’s because it takes great teamwork to welcome over 200,000 passengers every day, as we work to provide the best airport service in the world. 76,000 people work across the airport, in thousands of different roles and for hundreds of different companies – Heathrow is not just a world-class airport; it’s also a place where you can build a world-class career.
Engineering is the lifeblood of Heathrow, looking after a £14bn asset base from terminal buildings and baggage belts, to escalators and lifts. The Capital Projects function has been responsible for delivering over £11bn of investment in a variety of projects including airline lounges, baggage facilities and a brand-new terminal. On our unique Engineering and Capital Projects internship you could play a key part in both these departments, learning what it takes to manage our facilities to make every journey better and to deliver projects that are crucial for improving our resilience at Heathrow. You will explore multiple areas of engineering, including mechanical, electrical, water, civil, rail and environmental.
Your internship will begin in October 2019, when you’ll join us for between 10 and 12 months. The opportunity is ideal as either a university placement or a first role for a graduate looking to see their career take off. Whatever your background, we will work with you to support your development and build a strong foundation for your future.
To help you make the most of your time with us, we offer ongoing mentoring and support, including plenty of opportunities for you to learn from experienced managers and colleagues. And when you reach the end of your programme, the opportunities will just be beginning. There are a huge range of career paths open for you in our business, including the chance to progress onto one of our Future Leaders programmes or to secure a permanent role within your function.
Are you someone who loves to learn? Do you constantly seek out new opportunities? Would you like to experience life at the forefront of a dynamic, ever-changing industry? Then our Engineering internship could be just what you’re looking for.
