The Global Graduate Programme is BAT’s flagship fast-track leadership programme. This intensive 18-month development journey is designed to challenge and stretch high-potential graduates, preparing them for future leadership careers within BAT. From day one, you will take on meaningful responsibilities, work on real business challenges and gain exposure to different areas of R&D through structured development opportunities and rotations.

About the Global Graduate Programme

As a Global Graduate in New Categories R&D or Research and Science (R&S), you will gain hands-on experience across a range of scientific and technical disciplines while developing broader business and leadership capabilities.

Throughout the programme, you will:

  • Work on impactful innovation and product development projects that support BAT's New Categories portfolio.
  • Develop deep technical expertise while building commercial awareness and eye for business.
  • Participate in a structured programme including development rotations, coaching, mentoring and networking opportunities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across R&S, R&D and the wider business.
  • Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical collaborators.
  • Build project management, problem-solving and leadership skills through real business challenges.
  • Gain exposure to different functions, technologies and ways of working within a global organisation.
  • Join a vibrant Global Graduate community and participate in dedicated development activities, including BAT’s Global Graduate Academy.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking curious, ambitious and driven graduates who are excited by innovation, science and the opportunity to make an impact.

  • A Bachelor or MSc completed within the last three years in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Data Science, Statistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Biomedical Engineering or a closely related subject.
  • Experience analysing complex datasets, applying digital tools, or presenting scientific findings would be beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Scientific curiosity and a growth mindset.
  • The ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment, with resilience, adaptability and a willingness to embrace new challenges.
  • Leadership potential and a desire to build a long-term career at BAT.
  • Previous laboratory, industrial placement, internship, research project, clinical research, data science, or innovation-focused work experience is advantageous but not essential.

Please note that we currently have three vacancies within the Global Graduate Programme: two in New Categories R&D and one in Research & Science (R&S).
