Full Stack Developer

Computer Science/Software/Systems/IT.

We’re looking for people to join our industry-leading Creative Technologies team. We’re growing, and we’re looking to increase both our capacity and our capability. This is not your average developer role. We build web-based technologies to change the physical world around us.

A better built environment

We collaborate. We are multi-national. We are creative.

We work with some of the biggest and most technically advanced companies in the world. We aren’t software developers, but we do make software – for advanced digital configurators and industry-leading design automation that are changing the way progress is delivered in energy, industry, healthcare, data, transport, education and homes.

We are all about making the process of designing the built environment not just faster, but smarter. If you’re interested in seeing your work make a real and positive impact, the role of Full Stack Developer is a great opportunity to join us.

The role

You will work as part of our web development group, collaborating with colleagues with a range of roles and expertise across multiple, parallel projects.

Projects in Creative Technologies typically involve teams of six to ten people, and we stitch together computational design strands such as algorithmic routines and 3D model processing. Our web development work provides functionality and features that both enable and enhance our overall design automation goals.

We’re a collaborative team – all our development work is carried out as part of a group. As well as working closely with your core colleagues, you will engage with – and be empathetic to – other complimentary aspects of our projects.

There is plenty of opportunity to work directly with clients to understand their requirements and translate them into features that require development in front-end and back-end.

About you

We’re looking for someone passionate about tech, curious about how the built environment is created, and fascinated by the potential of both. Technical skills are important, but we also value your approach, attitude, outlook, and desire to help shape our vision.

We aren’t necessarily looking for the ‘finished article’ – we understand that what we do may be new to some people. We will support you in your journey to become an integral part of our team, so that we can achieve success together.

We are recruiting at all levels, and we want to hear from you regardless of where you currently are on your path to being a developer. We support flexible working hours and will work with you wherever possible to accommodate your requirements.

Salary and grade depend on experience.

We work with a wide range of web technologies to build interactive experiences for our clients and users. We don’t expect you to be familiar with, or experienced in, all of these and there’s lots of opportunity to grow your skills across the tech that we use.

In our front-end apps we use vanilla JavaScript with HTML5 + CSS as well as UI frameworks such as Vue or Angular. We typically develop immersive and interactive 3D and geospatial environments as part of our apps and so we use any (or all) of the following:

  • Three.js
  • Unity (C#)
  • Mapbox
  • Google Maps API/Earth Engine

Our back-end development work is built around the following tech stack:

  • Mongo NoSQL
  • Node
  • Express/Flask for Rest API
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Python

The back-end development covers these topics:

  • Cloud database deployment and management
  • Server-side JavaScript development
  • Web API development and standards
  • App deployment through serverless technologies or containerisation
  • User access control and security

Location: UK, Italy or Spain (Remote or office-based).

The Creative Technologies team is (technically) based in London but we are a remote-first team. Bryden Wood has EU locations in Barcelona and Milan and it’s possible for team members to be employed via these offices. There is considerable flexibility – in the short and long term – for team members to work in the UK or with one of our EU offices.

We offer competitive salaries, a generous pension scheme, private health insurance and much more.

We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.

(This means that we will supply feedback if requested after an interview.)
