The University of Aberdeen Chemical Engineering Society was set up to help Chemical Engineering students connect more closely with the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE). Being part of this network gives our members a great insight into how Chemical Engineering is used in the real world and lets them join a wider professional community through career events, talks, and seminars.
We have now evolved into a supportive community where students from every year can connect, collaborate, and share experiences. We keep our social media active so everyone can stay in the loop with what’s going on.
Each semester, we organise fun and engaging activities - from industrial trips and coffee mornings to pub crawls and study sessions. Our big goal this year is to go to Frank Morton, which we haven’t been to in almost seven years - and we’re so excited to make a comeback!
This year, we’re excited to be establishing a sister society called Abeerdeen. Although it’s still in the process of being set up, we already have a fantastic team of lecturers and students from various years working together to gather the necessary equipment and provide a space to explore home brewing. Our goal is to produce an ale, a beer, and eventually a wine.
