KCL Womxn in STEM (WiSTEM)

Founded in 2015, we are a network of students, professionals, academics, and researchers who support and encourage diversity in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at King's College London.

WiSTEM works to represent womxn, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ scientists at the faculty level and fights for better working conditions. We aim to bridge the gender gap in STEM by hosting events, academic talks, workshops, and organise socials to help more womxn in STEM join these areas and succeed in their career.

With more than 250 members, we are more than just a society, our Policy Lobbying and Advocacy (PLA) team works closely with our Departments and Faculties on policies to improve the overall experience for all womxn pursuing STEM degrees at King's College London.

Motivated by our own experiences in the fields, we are passionate and enthusiastic to promote more diversity and equality in the STEM disciplines.

We bring together STEM female students across all year groups from Foundation to PhD.

In 2019 we have adjusted the society name from "Women in STEM" to "Womxn in STEM" to ensure we are a clear safe space for members of any gender, race or background.

Our society was awarded a prestigious Gold Society Award for impressive achievements in improving diversity, wellbeing and collaboration with other societies at King's College.

WiSTEM was previously sponsored by Softwire, Amazon and Accenture.
