Oxford Women in Engineering, Science and Technology is a network of over 1,800 undergraduates and postgraduate students at the University of Oxford.
We run social and career-focused events with our sponsors, as well as hosting an annual careers conference exclusively for women in STEM.
Membership to our society is free, and we also provide a mentorship programme that connects industry professionals with our students.
Representatives gave a speech on their daily lives within the company, followed by a networking event with students keen to pursue summer internships or graduate schemes.
OxWEST had a stall at the Oxford University Freshers’ fair, where we got to meet many fantastic students starting their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and let them know about all OxWEST has to offer!
Our OxWEST maths students were able to talk to graduates about their careers after finishing maths degrees at Oxford. Our panel included a PhD students and those in industry: Rhiannon Savage, Bethany Clarke, Helen Ryan and Jess Toudic.
Associate Prof. Perla Maiolino from the Oxford Robotics Institute gave a talk entitled ‘Robots with a sense of Touch - Towards Embodied Intelligence’ in St.Catherine’s college. This was followed by free pizza and a chance for interested students to ask questions.
