At Siemens Healthineers Magnet Technology in Eynsham, Oxford, we are a world leader in the design and manufacture of superconducting magnetic resonance imaging magnets for medical applications and we take enormous pride in developing truly innovative technology to produce superconducting magnet solutions of exceptional quality. From concept stage through to product delivery, we aim to continually push technological boundaries, as it is our mission to make MRI systems more widely accessible across the world. 

Apply now for the position of Electronics & Embedded Software Design Engineer Degree Apprentice and you will have the opportunity to understand and contribute to the process associated with the design and manufacture of superconducting magnets for MRI systems, alongside gaining a degree qualification.  

Your role:

  • You will work as part of a team to support and develop the design and manufacture of control electronics and software for superconducting magnets.
  • You will work independently on projects to improve current designs and processes.
  • You will conduct design work, experiments, analyse results and report on conclusions, both in written reports and verbally in meetings.
  • You will support production on the factory floor and the customer support team.
  • You will study towards a Level 6 Degree qualification with an approved Apprenticeship provider alongside your role.

About you:

  • You will have an interest in electronics and software either though school or hobby activities including such activities as Arduino, Lego Mindstorm, building electronics projects or software programming.
  • You will have an awareness of, and interest in, the electronics and software design function within an engineering organisation.
  • You will possess technical analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • You will have an interest in "making things" and "how things work".
  • You will possess good communication skills and a desire to work as part of a team to help solve problems and implement effective solutions.
  • You will have (or be working towards) a minimum of two A-Levels at grade 6 (B) or above, including a mathematical-based subject and a science, technology, engineering or an additional mathematics-related subject – or an equivalent Level 3 Engineering BTEC/EAL Diploma at Distinction (Merit) Level or above.
