Supply Chain Management Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship

Are you due to finish school or college and considering a degree qualification but also keen to gain some practical business experience? Have you considered a career in Supply Chain Management? 

Starting in August/September 2024, as a Supply Chain Degree Apprentice at Siemens Healthineers, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in one of the world's leading healthcare companies. 

In this dynamic four year Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship, you will gain comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in supply chain management, logistics, and business operations.

The curriculum is designed to empower you with expertise in optimising supply chains, enhancing efficiency, and driving strategic decision-making. Over time, you’ll take on more responsibility and accountability as your skills, knowledge and expertise increase to set you up to excel in future senior supply chain roles.

At our Magnet Technology factory in Eynsham, Oxfordshire, we’ve been welcoming students for many years and you will join a diverse network of early career professionals that are highly valued across the business.

Our site is at the forefront of manufacturing high-tech medical imaging equipment used by healthcare professionals worldwide, and our Supply Chain and Logistics team are key to helping our processes and our factory run smoothly. As we plan for our move to our new purpose-built factory, the Supply Chain & Logistics team have an important role to play in ensuring our future readiness. 

What do I need to know about undertaking a Supply Chain Degree Apprenticeship?

As a Supply Chain Degree Apprentice at Siemens Healthineers, you will be working towards a BSc in Supply Chain Management (Professional Practice), in partnership with Aston University.

The degree course comprises a number of varied modules over the four years, including modules on logistics management, financial management, supply chain analytics, project management, technology and innovation and strategic supply chain management.

You'll spend the majority of your time in the workplace doing a real full-time job as well as studying for your degree part-time with some sessions at university. Study time is structured to fit around your job, so you don't need to worry about your work and study commitments clashing.

What might some of my day to day work include as my experience grows?

  • Ensuring good availability of materials to support the production plan. Taking appropriate action and ensuring any issues are communicated to stake-holders. 
  • Participating in regular meetings. Communicating any known issues and working towards sustainable solutions.
  • Managing purchase orders and tracking delivery of materials.
  • Managing materials effectively, selecting appropriate methods to control stock levels.
  • Maintaining good supplier relationships with regular, structured vendor meetings. 
  • Supporting continuous improvement, participating in cross-functional projects as required, applying state-of-the-art digital tools. 
  • Complying with business processes. 

The intention would be that upon successful completion of the apprenticeship you would take up a role within this team of Supply Chain & Logistics professionals.

Who are we looking for?

  • Three A Levels at CCC or above, or equivalent BTECs and min of Grade C/4 in Maths & English GCSEs.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • A proactive, team-oriented collaborator with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently, safely and responsibly; taking ownership of challenges and ideas and looking to develop your ability to drive and lead change.

You will also need to meet the government's eligibility criteria: 

  • Have been a UK/EU/EAA resident for the past three years or more prior to starting the course 
  • Have left full time education when the apprenticeship you are applying for is due to start 
  • Be aged at least 16 years old to meet government funding criteria.
