Manufacturing Engineering Intern

Apply now for the position of Manufacturing Engineering Intern and gain valuable experience within an Engineering team at one of the world’s leading healthcare companies. Based within Siemens Healthineers Magnet Technology in Oxfordshire, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the manufacture of high-tech medical imaging equipment used by healthcare professionals around the world.

At Siemens Healthineers Magnet Technology, we design and manufacture superconducting magnets for MRI systems. From initial concept through to manufacture and delivery, our teams combine engineering expertise and innovative technology to produce high-quality magnet solutions that support our ambition to make MRI more accessible worldwide. We are recruiting interns across a number of our Manufacturing Engineering teams, offering opportunities to gain experience in different areas of our manufacturing operations. We’ll consider your skills, experience and interests to identify the placement where we think you’ll be best suited.

This is an exciting time to join us. Alongside our established facility in Eynsham, we are ramping up production at our newly built facility in Bicester. Our Manufacturing Engineering teams play an important role in supporting our operations today while helping us develop and introduce the processes and technologies we’ll need for the future. You’ll gain first-hand experience of how a large-scale business manages the transition of operations while maintaining day-to-day delivery, working alongside teams across both locations. Your internship may involve working at either or both of our Eynsham and Bicester sites.

This 12 month internship placement will provide you with hands-on experience in our Engineering team, and a chance to make a meaningful contribution. We are looking for students who want to take on real responsibility during their year in industry, and who want to take advantage of a structured Intern Development Programme.

In this role you will:

  • You will gain an in-depth insight into manufacturing operations at a modern high-tech facility.
  • You will take on various challenges and opportunities, including new product development/introduction, facility development, new test processes, production support, quality improvements, waste reductions, tooling/plant development and process improvements.
  • You will experience first-hand the challenges faced by today’s manufacturing sector.
  • You will work as part of a team to identify, contribute to and complete business critical engineering projects.

All of our Interns also participate in our 12 month Intern development programme teaching softer skills such as communication, teamwork, and commercial awareness alongside the role.

Work Experience

  • You will be currently studying towards a degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or Physics and completing a 12 month industrial placement or sandwich year as part of your degree.
  • You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You will need to be proactive, with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • You should have a team oriented attitude and the ability to maintain good working relationships.

You must also have eligibility to work in the UK for the duration of the internship (Summer 2027-Summer 2028), as we are unable to offer sponsorship for internship roles.
