As a Mechanical Engineering placement student, you’ll be working in diverse teams across all of our markets. You could work on a variety of projects, including airports, railway stations, nuclear power stations or offshore wind farms. From design to analysis, manufacturing and maintenance challenges, your contribution will make a difference. You'll be able to point to your projects and say, "I helped make that happen."
As a placement student, you could find yourself in one of the following business areas:
Aerospace, Defence, Security & Technology (ADS&T)

Degree requirements: On track for a minimum of a 2.1 Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Marine/Naval or Integrated Mechanical & Electrical Engineering
ADS&T work across safety critical industries to exploit cutting-edge advanced technology across aerospace and defence markets, helping clients respond innovatively to evolving external environments. ADS&T work with leading names to transform the future of aerospace engineering and support our national defence programmes across all domains: land, sea, air, maritime and cyber.
Whether it’s mechanical, aerospace or systems engineering; advanced materials, finite element analysis or design – whatever your passion is, you’ll be joining a high-end engineering team working on ground-breaking projects. As one of our Mechanical Engineering placement students, you could be involved with a range of projects, from fixed and floating offshore structures, to terminals, refineries, petrochemical plants and subsea pipelines. We’ll be there supporting you whilst you’re honing your skills on exciting digital and immersive technologies.
