Hi, I'm Evita Widjaja, a Civil Engineer in the Networks & Drainage Solutions team at AtkinsRéalis. My role is to enhance water network operations and design sustainable drainage systems, applying digital innovation and sustainability principles to projects.
One of my career highlights was leading a charity project, where we used our digital tool NetCreate to efficiently design water networks and accelerate infrastructure delivery to communities currently without piped water in Lahan, Nepal, as part of The Beacon Project. This project was shortlisted for the 2023 New Civil Engineer TechFest Awards!
I was inspired to become an engineer because of the positive impact I could have on the world. And I love being part of an organisation with a global presence, where everyone is driven by innovation and collaboration. And where I can personally deliver exemplary projects for the needs of society.
Working in a consultancy is all about the people, so the importance of developing strong relationships with both colleagues and clients cannot be understated. Also, enjoy the journey and savor the moments – time flies!
The Graduate Development Program at AtkinsRéalis has given me transformative training and the freedom to steer my own development. I've been able to seize many opportunities to broaden my expertise. I exchanged into the Ground Engineering & Tunneling team for six months through the Graduate Exchange Programme, deepening my knowledge of ground conditions and foundation design.
This experience expanded my technical skills and allowed me to build invaluable connections across teams. In my home practice, Networks & Drainage Solutions, I've embraced roles as a Digital Training Champion and Digital Learning Ambassador, further developing my skills and understanding of the intersection of practice and market. This diverse exposure has significantly contributed to my professional and personal growth.
The support from my managers, mentors, ICE supervisor, and collaborative colleagues has been instrumental in shaping my career journey. It's provided an exciting and varied start, all made possible through an environment that encourages and supports my ambitions, like applying for the President's Future Leaders program. Being awarded this honor reflects the empowering culture at AtkinsRéalis that motivates its graduates.
Looking forward to more transformative years ahead!
