Our Degree Apprenticeships

Want to know something cool? You could earn a degree without incurring a single penny of student debt through a degree apprenticeship at Kier.

How does it work?

Your course can take 4 - 5 years to complete, and at the end you’ll have a recognised BSc qualification from one of our university partners.

During that time, you’ll be permanently employed by Kier, gain valuable work experience and have all your tuition and accommodation fees covered by us. There may be pre-determined block weeks throughout the course for you to go to university, attend lectures and meet other people on your course.

What courses are on offer?

BSc Construction and commercial management - This degree prepares you for a number of roles including construction management, planning, business information modelling (BIM), estimating and health and safety. You’ll be part of the site team, liaising with other site professionals to ensure the project runs smoothly, safely, according to plans and on time.

BSc Quantity surveying and commercial management - As a quantity surveyor, you’ll play a key role in a construction project, managing the costs from the early design plans all the way through to project completion. Your priorities will be to make sure that the projects meet legal and quality standards and that clients get good value for money.

BEng Civil engineering - In your role as a civil engineer, you’ll be the key technical person involved in the designing, planning, and managing of construction projects. You’ll be able to resolve design and development problems that occur along the way and ensure a high quality project is delivered.

Who can apply?

Each role will have its own requirements, so make sure you pay close attention to the job advert when submitting your application, but the basic requirements for all are:

  • be 18 years old or older
  • have at least 4 GCSEs graded C/4 or above (including maths and English)
  • have at least 2 A-levels or an equivalent Level 3 diploma, preferably in a subject related to your chosen course
  • if you are a mature applicant, relevant work experience can be used in place of the grade requirements so make sure to speak to your recruiter about this after you apply
