Purpose & Scope of the Role

Ready to launch your civil engineering career on projects that genuinely shape communities and infrastructure?

Join Tetra Tech’s Civil Engineering team and support the delivery of flagship and regionally significant schemes across defence, transport, infrastructure, healthcare, education, commercial, industrial and residential sectors. Working alongside senior colleagues, you’ll contribute to the design of private and public highways, drainage systems, specifications, calculations, technical reports and site supervision, while developing towards professional qualification with the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Your Impact in this position

From day one, you’ll help turn engineering concepts into practical solutions. You’ll gain hands-on experience across design, reporting and site-based work, while building your skills in flood risk assessment and using industry-standard tools including AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroDrainage.

Five Core Capabilities

  • Engineering Design – Support the production of civil engineering designs across highways, drainage and wider infrastructure projects.
  • Technical Reporting & Calculations – Prepare specifications, calculations and technical reports that support robust project delivery.
  • Site Supervision – Assist with supervision activities on site, gaining practical insight into how designs are delivered.
  • Flood Risk & Drainage Knowledge – Develop understanding of flood risk assessment and drainage design for both public and private schemes.
  • Software & Collaboration – Build confidence using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroDrainage, while working effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

You’ll need a minimum 2:1 BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Enthusiasm, flexibility, versatility and a commitment to your professional development are essential. Suitability for security clearance is required.

Working Environment

Based in Leeds, this role supports hybrid working, with office attendance and site involvement as required by project needs. As a graduate role, you’ll be expected to spend more time in the office initially to support learning and development. You’ll work closely with senior engineers and project teams in a collaborative, professional environment.

In alignment with the Equality Act 2010, we will make reasonable adjustments to support candidates and employees requiring additional arrangements. This could include adaptations to work schedules, training approaches, or the physical workspace. Please inform us if you need any accommodations during the recruitment process or in your day-to-day role.
