"I work as a Processing and Imaging Geophysicist, where I apply wave physics and data analysis to process large 2D, 3D and 4D surveys of the subsurface of the Earth. Marine Seismic Surveying is a vital tool to image subsea geological structures and formations, for offshore energy solutions.
I was introduced to Seismic Processing at the University of Bristol and after meeting the Shearwater team at a visit to the university, I made an application for their Graduate Geophysicist role.
As I start my career as a Processing Geophysicist, an average day can include daily team meetings to set goals, tackling a component of the processing sequence, QC-ing data and preparing presentations to show our processing results to clients.
I have also played an active role in being a Shearwater ambassador, returning to my university to attend careers events and talk about my experience to STEM students.
On joining Shearwater, I was also part of their early year’s development programme – Waves. Welcoming an international cohort from Offshore, Processing and Imaging, Global IT, Human Resources and Technology Divisions, we were invited to an induction hosted in the UK HQ, where I took part in team building activities, had a kick off meeting for an exciting business project sponsored by the CTO, listened to presentations from the senior management team and had an introductory meeting with my new mentor.
I was honoured to be part of the first generation of this programme and I am excited to see where it will lead me over the next two years. I am really enjoying applying theory from my Geophysics degree to a dynamic and leading company within the field and look forward to developing my technical skills further!"
