Kristian

Senior Lead Electronic Architect

In my role, I am responsible for the delivery of 2-off Environmental Data Gathering Missiles for air carriage trials by leading the electrical architecture, preparing requirements and specification documentation, whilst also managing the teams to ensure an appropriate trade-off space. I am responsible for planning, right through to reporting, as well as base-lining, resourcing, and responsible for project deadlines and cost. I also provide support to Missile Architecture through activities such as the Community of Practice, and supporting new graduates and apprentices.

I joined the MBDA graduate scheme in 2018 as a missile architect, completing four 6-month placements in engineering and intelligence. One of the things I missed the most about university was the closed campus setting where you felt like part of a large family. As soon as I walked through the gates of MBDA that feeling rushed back and I felt safe and welcomed. Over time and depending on project requirements, my responsibilities and workload increased to match my abilities.

When I was younger, I knew I wanted a career that was not just a desk job. This is something I have found at MBDA. I do have a desk, and do plenty of work there, but I also have lots of lab work, hands-on work, large forums, international assignments, and STEM outreach programmes.

MBDA are fantastic at career development, tailored to individuals depending on their aspirations. I am currently going through engineering chartership (CEng) supported by MBDA with an internal Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) mentor and sponsor. MBDA are also providing me with training for the Project Management Professional (PMP) accreditation. You are also encouraged to take courses pertinent to your immediate role which adds value both to yourself and the business.
