As a Seeker Proving Lead, I integrate and test seeker guidance algorithms for two major missile programmes, validating, verifying and certifying the seekers for use on aircraft platforms, leading and taking part in seeker trials at varying locations across the UK and, as such, proving the seeker software, firmware, hardware and system.
I was drawn in by the friendly atmosphere at the Assessment Day and the quality of the technical work I would be doing when working at MBDA. I was part of the Early Careers Programme Graduate Scheme, experiencing four six-month placements across the business before deciding to graduate into a Seeker Proving role. I was fortunate enough to be given a Lead role when I graduated from the scheme and began managing other graduates and colleagues of various levels of expertise. My role grew as I became a more competent Seeker Proving Engineer and began to take on the certification of systems as well as the integration of the systems. MBDA offers opportunity to those ambitious enough to set their personal bar as high as they feel comfortable with.
I didn’t expect to fit in so easily and so well within the business given my educational background was not within Engineering, but MBDA provides a wealth of training courses and practical experiences to grow your engineering competencies, regardless of your background. The best thing about working with MBDA is the culture that they have created across the entire business and the people I have the pleasure of working with on a daily basis. I feel entirely supported and therefore feel comfortable taking significant risk in striving for the best, knowing that there is a no fail option due to the management structure within the business.
