On the 18 and 19 October 2022, I attended a two-day conference at Alderley Bioscience Park hosted by BioNow. Appleyard Lees sponsored the event and we have been regular attendees of BioNow conferences for many years.

Over the course of two days, a series of talks were held by renowned researchers in the fields of oncology and precision medicine.

The days were structured so that “state of the nation” panel discussions took place in the mornings, during which researchers from different disciplines discussed the current hurdles in the fields of oncology and precision medicine, and the possible ways in which they could be overcome.

This was followed by talks from industry representatives about current developments in therapeutics and diagnostics.

After a complementary lunch, the afternoon talks included moving accounts from oncology patients about their personal journeys and discussions about how small, start-up companies could seek funding.

As a trainee, this was a great opportunity to network with academics and researchers from industry, gain a more in depth understanding of the exciting developments in these fields, and drink a lot of free coffee!
