Sectors

Construction

The construction sector is today the largest consumer of steel products worldwide. Due, among other properties, to its hardness, ductility and durability, steel has become one of the most widely used structural materials in the construction sector, both in the construction of infrastructures and in buildings. Steel-reinforced concrete and metal structures are the main structural typologies used globally.

The construction sector has occupied a prominent place in the supply of products and services offered by CELSA Group™ since its origins. Currently, in the Group we have an extensive and diversified range of laminated and transformed products, services and solutions for the construction sector.

Automotive

Currently, more than half a million tons of CELSA Group™ steel per year are destined for the automotive sector, a sector that demands superior quality from its products. Excellence in service and continuous improvement of processes are essential to guarantee the manufacture of safer, lighter and cleaner vehicles that meet the increasingly stringent limits of local and international regulations.

A vehicle contains on average around 900 kg of steel, of which 10-15% are long steel products depending on the vehicle class. CELSA Group™, being one of the European leaders in the manufacture of long steel products, supplies an extensive range of high quality products to world’s largest automobile manufacturers, obtaining a greater international presence in the sector.

Agriculture

In addition to the structural steel profiles, bars, light profiles and enclosures used for the construction of warehouses, sheds and other constructions for agricultural use, there are also wires, cords, thorns and meshes specifically designed for agriculture and livestock.

Two good options for cattle ranches and hunting grounds are HJ MRT® Knotted Cattle Netting and Knotted fixed FK MRT®. Both meshes are progressive and are made from reinforced galvanized wire to offer maximum resistance and durability in animal containment. Another alternative for forest areas, but also for fencing highways or railway lines, is the progressive welded mesh, made of reinforced galvanized wire.

Oil and Gas

CELSA Group™ has extensive experience in the supply of rolled and forged steel products for the Oil & Gas industry, both for surface and underwater production.

In recent years, CELSA Group™ has successfully participated in many offshore projects supplying components for subsea production and connection systems such as Egina, Wheatstone, BC10, Tubilar Bells, Pazflor, Gumusut, Prelude, Frade, Pre-salt and Delta House. Additionally, our industrial enclosures and our corrugated steel, structural profiles and commercial bars are used in the construction of structures, structural elements and civil works in the Oil & Gas.

Ship Building

Through the forged steel products division, CELSA Group™ has extensive experience in the development and manufacturing of forged parts for the construction of ships and medium-speed diesel engines. CELSA Group™ manufactures crankshafts, propeller shafts and other shafts, steering pipes and other forged steel components for major engine manufacturers.

Energy

CELSA Group™ manufactures a multitude of products necessary for the energy sector, since steel is present in all energy generation and transport infrastructures. As examples, structural profiles are used in all metal structures for power generation, refineries, photovoltaic and wind installations, etc.

Corrugated bars are used in all the foundations of wind farms, as well as in all concrete structures of buildings and civil works related to the construction sector. The angles (belonging to the family of commercial bars) are widely used in all electrical towers. To close the list of examples, our division of forged products manufactures shafts for electrical turbines and wind generators.
