At OCU Group, we don’t just deliver infrastructure - we help power modern life.
As one of the UK’s fastest-growing utility and infrastructure businesses, we deliver complex, nationally critical projects across power, energy transition, water, telecoms, and digital infrastructure. Over the last five years, OCU has grown five-fold to a £1.1bn organisation, expanding both organically and through strategic acquisitions across the UK, Australia, New Zealand and India.
Our growth is driven by ambitious people, operational excellence, and a commitment to doing things properly. We work on projects that genuinely matter by supporting the UK’s energy transition, strengthening essential infrastructure, and helping build more sustainable communities for the future.
Whether you’re an experienced professional looking to take ownership of major projects and influence delivery at scale, or someone starting your career through an apprenticeship, graduate programme, or placement route, OCU offers real opportunity to grow, develop, and make an impact.
We are building a business where high performance, collaboration, innovation, and accountability sit at the centre of our culture. Our people are trusted to lead, encouraged to challenge thinking, and supported to continuously develop their skills and careers.
At OCU, you won’t just join a growing business, you’ll help shape it.
You'll play a key role in supporting the commercial management and financial performance of infrastructure projects across OCU. Working as part of our Commercial team, you'll help ensure projects are delivered efficiently, profitably and in line with contractual requirements. You'll work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Operational teams and clients, gaining hands-on experience in the commercial aspects of project delivery from tender stage through to final account.
You'll gain exposure to a broad range of quantity surveying activities, including cost management, contract administration, valuation of works, procurement support, forecasting and financial reporting. Supporting multiple projects, you'll help monitor project costs, assess subcontractor accounts, manage change control processes and contribute to commercial decision-making that supports successful project outcomes.
As part of the role, you'll assist with preparing valuations, analysing project performance, reviewing contract documentation and supporting negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors. You'll gain valuable insight into commercial risk management, budgeting, forecasting and the financial controls that underpin successful project delivery. Working closely with both operational and commercial teams, you'll develop an understanding of how effective commercial management contributes to project success and long-term business growth.
The role will provide exposure to both office and project site environments, giving you practical experience of how infrastructure projects are delivered from a commercial perspective. As your knowledge and confidence grow, you'll take on increasing responsibility, develop strong commercial and stakeholder management skills, and become an important contributor to the successful delivery of OCU's projects.
Graduates who are passionate about commercial management, construction and infrastructure and want to develop a career at the heart of project delivery. You'll be analytical, organised and detail-oriented, with strong numerical and problem-solving skills and an interest in understanding the financial and contractual aspects of delivering major projects.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, managing costs and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes. You'll be keen to develop your commercial awareness, negotiation skills and financial acumen while gaining experience across all stages of the project lifecycle.
You'll enjoy balancing detailed financial analysis with practical project involvement, helping to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, profitably and to the highest standards.
You'll need (or be on track to achieve) a degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline with a minimum 2:2 classification.
A full UK driving licence would be beneficial due to occasional travel to operational and project sites.
Experience gained through placements, university projects or part-time employment within construction, infrastructure, utilities or commercial environments would be advantageous.
Our 2 year Graduate Programme combines structured training with hands-on experience, giving you real responsibility from day one. You'll learn directly alongside industry experts in a collaborative, supportive environment. We invest in your continuous professional development, giving you the tools, confidence and clear progression path to build a long term career within OCU.
