At OCU Group, we don’t just deliver infrastructure - we help power modern life.
As one of the UK’s fastest-growing utility and infrastructure businesses, we deliver complex, nationally critical projects across power, energy transition, water, telecoms, and digital infrastructure. Over the last five years, OCU has grown five-fold to a £1.1bn organisation, expanding both organically and through strategic acquisitions across the UK, Australia, New Zealand and India.
Our growth is driven by ambitious people, operational excellence, and a commitment to doing things properly. We work on projects that genuinely matter by supporting the UK’s energy transition, strengthening essential infrastructure, and helping build more sustainable communities for the future.
Whether you’re an experienced professional looking to take ownership of major projects and influence delivery at scale, or someone starting your career through an apprenticeship, graduate programme, or placement route, OCU offers real opportunity to grow, develop, and make an impact.
We are building a business where high performance, collaboration, innovation, and accountability sit at the centre of our culture. Our people are trusted to lead, encouraged to challenge thinking, and supported to continuously develop their skills and careers.
At OCU, you won’t just join a growing business, you’ll help shape it.
You'll play a key role in supporting the design, development and delivery of electrical engineering solutions across OCU's infrastructure, utility and energy projects. Based in either Ruislip, Oxford, or Swindon you'll work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, helping to deliver projects that provide essential services and infrastructure for communities across the UK.
You'll gain exposure to a broad range of electrical engineering activities, supporting projects from initial concept and design through to installation, testing, commissioning and handover. Working alongside experienced engineers, project managers, site teams and clients, you'll help develop technical solutions, review designs, support project delivery and ensure work is completed in accordance with relevant standards, specifications and regulatory requirements.
As part of the role, you'll assist with electrical design calculations, equipment selection, technical documentation, site surveys and engineering assessments. You'll gain valuable experience working with electrical distribution systems, control systems, power infrastructure and renewable energy technologies while developing an understanding of engineering principles, project management and industry best practice.
The role will involve collaboration with teams across both office and site environments, providing practical experience of how engineering solutions are developed and delivered in real-world project settings. As your technical knowledge and confidence grow, you'll take on increasing responsibility, develop your problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, and become an important contributor to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects.
Graduates who are passionate about engineering, technology and infrastructure and want to develop a career delivering innovative electrical solutions. You'll be curious, analytical and eager to learn, with strong problem-solving skills and an interest in how electrical systems support essential services and modern infrastructure.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys applying technical knowledge to real-world challenges, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and seeing engineering designs brought to life. You'll be keen to develop your technical expertise, project delivery knowledge and communication skills while working alongside experienced engineers on a variety of challenging and rewarding projects.
You'll enjoy balancing design, analysis and practical implementation, helping to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable engineering solutions that support communities and contribute to the UK's critical infrastructure networks.
You'll need (or be on track to achieve) a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Power Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum 2:2 classification.
Due to the nature of the role and occasional travel between offices and project sites, a full UK driving licence would be beneficial.
Relevant experience through placements, internships, university projects or extracurricular activities involving electrical systems, engineering design, power distribution or renewable energy technologies would be advantageous.
Our 2 year Graduate Programme combines structured training with hands-on experience, giving you real responsibility from day one. You'll learn directly alongside industry experts in a collaborative, supportive environment. We invest in your continuous professional development, giving you the tools, confidence and clear progression path to build a long term career within OCU.
