At OCU Group, we don’t just deliver infrastructure - we help power modern life.
As one of the UK’s fastest-growing utility and infrastructure businesses, we deliver complex, nationally critical projects across power, energy transition, water, telecoms, and digital infrastructure. Over the last five years, OCU has grown five-fold to a £1.1bn organisation, expanding both organically and through strategic acquisitions across the UK, Australia, New Zealand and India.
Our growth is driven by ambitious people, operational excellence, and a commitment to doing things properly. We work on projects that genuinely matter by supporting the UK’s energy transition, strengthening essential infrastructure, and helping build more sustainable communities for the future.
Whether you’re an experienced professional looking to take ownership of major projects and influence delivery at scale, or someone starting your career through an apprenticeship, graduate programme, or placement route, OCU offers real opportunity to grow, develop, and make an impact.
We are building a business where high performance, collaboration, innovation, and accountability sit at the centre of our culture. Our people are trusted to lead, encouraged to challenge thinking, and supported to continuously develop their skills and careers.
At OCU, you won’t just join a growing business, you’ll help shape it.
You'll play a key role in supporting the design, development and delivery of civil engineering solutions across OCU's infrastructure, utility and energy projects. Based in either Ruislip, Oxford or Swindon, you'll work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, helping to deliver projects that provide essential services and critical infrastructure for communities across the UK.
You'll gain exposure to a broad range of civil engineering activities, supporting projects from feasibility and design through to construction, commissioning and handover. Working alongside experienced engineers, project managers, site teams and clients, you'll help develop engineering solutions, review technical designs, undertake site assessments and support the successful delivery of projects in accordance with technical, environmental and regulatory requirements.
As part of the role, you'll assist with design development, site surveys, engineering calculations, technical documentation and project planning activities. You'll gain valuable experience across a variety of infrastructure projects, including utilities, energy networks, water, civil structures and associated construction works. You'll develop an understanding of engineering principles, project delivery processes and the practical challenges involved in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects safely and efficiently.
The role will involve collaboration across both office and site environments, providing valuable hands-on experience and exposure to live construction and engineering operations. As your technical knowledge and confidence grow, you'll take on increasing responsibility, develop your problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, and become an important contributor to the successful delivery of projects that support communities and enhance critical infrastructure networks.
Graduates who are passionate about engineering, infrastructure and construction and want to develop a career delivering projects that make a tangible difference to communities. You'll be curious, analytical and eager to learn, with strong problem-solving skills and an interest in how engineering solutions are developed and implemented in the real world.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys applying technical knowledge to practical challenges, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and seeing projects progress from concept through to completion. You'll be keen to develop your technical expertise, project delivery knowledge and communication skills while working alongside experienced engineers and industry professionals.
You'll enjoy balancing design, planning and site-based activities, helping to deliver safe, sustainable and efficient infrastructure that supports the UK's utility, energy and transportation networks.
You'll need (or be on track to achieve) a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum 2:2 classification.
Due to the nature of the role and occasional travel between offices and project sites, a full UK driving licence would be beneficial.
Relevant experience through placements, internships, university projects or extracurricular activities involving civil engineering design, construction, infrastructure or project delivery would be advantageous.
Our 2 year Graduate Programme combines structured training with hands-on experience, giving you real responsibility from day one. You'll learn directly alongside industry experts in a collaborative, supportive environment. We invest in your continuous professional development, giving you the tools, confidence and clear progression path to build a long term career within OCU.
