About the Role

Are you seeking to kick-start your career in fire protection system design? This role is ideal for someone eager to learn, develop new skills and gain hands-on experience in fire protection. This is a perfect entry-level role for a recent engineering graduate, although all applicants will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Using AutoCAD to produce site drawings throughout all stages of project installation.
  • Attending customer sites at the start of a project to assess the site and work with the project manager to create a design/drawing pack.
  • Working with the customer to ensure the design is in line with their requirements and relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
  • Liaising with engineers and subcontractors during the project to keep drawings up-to-date and make changes in line with the installation works.
  • Working closely with the project manager to ensure that revisions are kept up-to-date and reflect the stage of the project.
  • Finalising the as-fitted drawings at the end of commissioning so that the O&M Manual can be created.
  • Creating other designs as requested such as zone plans, kit drawings.
  • Completion of hydraulic calculations.
  • Completion of battery and loop calculations.
  • Completion of air sampling calculations.
  • Completion of design certification on behalf of BAFE-authorised signatories.
  • Assisting Project Manager and Operations Manager as may be required.

Person Specification

  • Engineering-based degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of fire protection technical accreditations an advantage.
  • Personality – Energy, drive, enthusiasm.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Professional.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of quality, environmental and health and safety requirements.
  • Must be able to perform well as an individual as well as part of a team.
