Sogil Philip

Offshore Analyst

What they enjoy most about AE: I chose Aquaterra Energy as even though they are a small/local company they operate globally, this really appealed to me as I knew I would have numerous opportunities to be able to have regular interactions with senior members of management and learn directly from them.

Progression from Graduate to where they are now: My journey here has been nothing but a rewarding experience. From day one I have always had the opportunity to get stuck in and contribute to the team/department’s efforts to achieving our goals. Personal and career development is at the heart of everything we do here, everyone from graduates to senior members of staff are encouraged to push beyond their comfort zone with the aim of learning something new and developing oneself.

When I started, I worked as a graduate offshore analyst for 2 years. Then progressed into an intermediate offshore analyst role for another 2 years. After this time I was selected to take part in a 12 month Project engineering secondment opportunity, which is where I am currently working.

Extra information: The standout moment for me during my time so far has been the opportunity to follow my work during my graduate rotation. During my rotation in the Design Engineering department, I was given the opportunity to help design a new piece of equipment. Then during my time in the QHSE department I was given the opportunity to travel to Aberdeen and witness the manufacturing and testing of the equipment I had initially helped to design. From this I was able to have a meaningful and lasting impact on the business and be able to follow my work from conception to final product.
