"One of the best things about working at Caterpillar is that you are encouraged to take and seek responsibility."
The process comprised of an online application, phone interview and assessment centre. The recruitment team were very responsive to any queries I had and provided regular, timely updates. This allowed me to stay well-informed about my application progress.
Do it, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made! Caterpillar is a global leader and a great company to work for. There are a wide variety of roles and opportunities available in Business Resources and each day brings a new challenge.
One of the best things about working at Caterpillar is that you are encouraged to take and seek responsibility. In my role, I have regular exposure to the local senior management team, including monthly review meetings with the Finance Director.
One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about the graduate scheme is the support I have received. This includes the direct support from my managers and colleagues but also the financial support that has allowed me to progress with my accounting qualification.
I’ve also enjoyed the obvious scope for progression. Many of my colleagues started their careers on the graduate scheme and have now progressed to become accounting managers. I believe this demonstrates the scheme's effectiveness.
The biggest challenge I’ve had is being able to communicate and explain complex accounting concepts to colleagues who are based outside of Business Resources. This requires simplifying the accounting jargon and making it relatable to the individual.
Most of the Business Resources teams sit in a big, open plan office. There are various teams in the office and it is arranged so that each has their own area. The atmosphere is relatively laid back and everyone is approachable and happy to help where they can.
