Roena Robinson-Daley

Transportation Graduate

Why did you choose Caterpillar?

Caterpillar piqued my interest with its commitment to developing its people. Not only was Cat an international company, which meant career opportunities were endless, but Cat also had diversity & inclusion as one of its key drivers as well as actively ensuring that women were heard and involved at all levels within the business. Just based off that alone and seeing other testimonials from its employees both present and past, encouraged and made me the belief that this is a company I wanted to be a part of!

Tell us about your experience so far?

My experience has been tremendous thus far! After a couple month of induction and trainings which included shadowing colleagues, I was given the opportunity to lead/manage 7 Cat facilities across Europe from a Transportation Care & Quality perspective!

My manager and very helpful colleagues were always available if I had queries, cheering me on and supporting where necessary. It was very encouraging, as I felt like everyone, genuinely wanted me to do well. This gave me a real opportunity to apply my MSC Business and Management studies into real world scenarios through delivering various business reviews and highlighting opportunities for change at various levels within a facility.

In this position I am afforded the chance to interact with all areas within caterpillar, and interact with colleagues across continents, business units and transport modes whether Air freight, Road transport or Ocean. No two days are the same, it has been both challenging and absolutely rewarding.

What has been the most memorable moment during your time at Caterpillar?

I have a number of memorable moments, so choosing the most memorable moment is proving to be extremely difficult! One example would be when I got the opportunity to fly to Belgium to meet with the European Ground transportation team and work in their head office for a week.

It was so interesting to see the culture, the country, and the company in action from that point of view. I was also able to book meeting with managers from different areas and all of them accepted my meeting invite and made time for me to ask questions and to tell me about their divisions and project. That was really enlightening!
