The application process involved completing an online application form about myself, the company and competencies, followed by a telephone interview. The final stage was an assessment centre.
I would advise applying sooner rather than later. During the application process, think of a range of experiences and skills that make you suitable for the job and use lots of different examples to support this.
I’ve had four six-month rotations including: design work in a component team; testing work in the component testing team; endurance testing a new engine in an engine platform team, and simulating engine performance in the performance systems team.
I started with small projects or parts of projects to increase knowledge and experience. I then moved on to larger and more challenging task with increased responsibility over a few months.
I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects. I have been able to work in several different engineering roles, which has allowed me to see things through the design phase, onto testing and development before going into production.
I have been welcomed into each rotation and colleagues have been friendly and helpful. I’ve experienced a nice balance of desk work and hands-on experience depending on role and project.
