Job Description

Imagine what it would be like to provide civil design support to high profile projects such as the High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Converter stations, Substations and Power Tunnels. Well, join us and you’ll be doing just that. Our teams work on a range of large-scale projects providing support such as general energy projects, transmission and distribution, power generation, renewable energy and nuclear power.

You will be working with a multidisciplinary design team to deliver front end engineering design (FEED) and detailed design of energy projects. As graduate engineer, your work will include:

  • Produce design of civil works and buildings (steel or concrete structure) to Eurocode or BS using structural design software hand calculation
  • Produce design calculation reports and technical specification.
  • Produce 2D drawings and 3D BIM modelling
  • Check drawings produced by others
  • Attend design review meetings as required
  • Site visit/survey/meeting as required
  • Any other tasks given by project or team lead

To be eligible for this opportunity, you will have less than 12 months' relevant work experience and have a degree or are expected to achieve a degree in one of the following degree subjects:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Structural Engineering

In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest in the role and working at Mott MacDonald through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience. 

We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics: 

  • Methodical approach to problem solving 
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently. 
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members. 
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing.
