I joined the Emerson Graduate Engineer Programme just over a year ago now, after initially hearing about the opportunity on Gradcracker. As my application process was during COVID, the assessment centre was held virtually- this was a great experience which involved a chat with some of the current graduates and allowed a further insight into what it was like to work for Emerson.
The scheme provides an extensive training bootcamp providing exposure to the software and hardware associated with DeltaV DCS. This bootcamp is usually held in Cluj, Romania for 8 weeks but unfortunately due to the circumstances with COVID our bootcamp was held virtually. The skills gained were invaluable and proven to be a great benefit during the projects I have worked on so far here in Dublin, Ireland.
Throughout my first year of the programme I have been working within the Field Service Engineering team, in which I have been based on 3 different client sites so far within the pharmaceutical industry. This consisted of working on projects that include commissioning and DeltaV Upgrades. Although this can seem very daunting working face to face alongside the client with little experience as a graduate, you will always have Emerson support around you - everyone is eager to help and answer your questions.
One of my key achievements here at my time in Emerson so far has been completing a FAT for a client within the first month of returning from bootcamp. FATs are intense and require a lot of work and dedication so to be given this opportunity early on in my career with Emerson was a huge milestone. It allowed me to gain a great amount of experience and hands on learning so quickly.
If you are a interested in a graduate program which allows you to gain a lot of experience & have responsibility from the get-go I couldn't recommend the Emerson Graduate Engineer scheme more.
